She sang for the first time in public when she was eight years old in the already extinct Teatro Jord\u00e3o, in her hometown, participating from then on in several radio programs and live performances.<\/p>\n<p>Am\u00e1lia Rodrigues is her biggest reference.<\/p>\n<p>She began her musical studies when she was nine years old at the Conservat\u00f3rio Regional de Vila Nova de Famalic\u00e3o\/Caldas da Sa\u00fade, where she concluded the Complementary Course of Musical Training, with the instruments: Classical Guitar\/Marked Strings Guitar (Prof. \u00d3scar Flecha\u2019s class); and Singing (professors Cec\u00edlia Fontes and Ana Paula Matos\u2019 class).<\/p>\n<p>Of her classical training route one can emphasize the participation, as a soloist, on the concert \u201cM\u00fasica no Cora\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d with the Youth Orchestra of ARTAVE, in June of 2000 in the already extinct Cinema Ter\u00e7o, in Oporto; and the operetta \u201cA Vi\u00fava Alegre\u201d by Franz L\u00e9har, with the Orchestra ARTAVE directed by the maestro Manuel Ivo Cruz, staged on the F\u00f3rum da Maia in May of 2001 and in the Casa das Artes of V. N. Famalic\u00e3o in October of the same year, a coproduction of the Companhia de \u00d3pera do Real Teatro de Queluz as well as of the Centro de Cultura Musical.<br \/>\nShe concluded the Complementary Course of Musical Training in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1994, she has performed regularly in shows abroad, namely in Switzerland \u2013 Gen\u00e9ve; Germany \u2013 Feiburg and Gro\u03b2-Umstadt; Spain \u2013 Madrid and on several locations in Galicia; Finland \u2013 Helsinki; and South Africa \u2013 Johannesburg. Amongst these performances one can highlight 5 concerts in November of 2007, in Corsica, within the context of the famous \u201cRencontres Musicales de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e\u201d festival where she was part of the Portuguese representation at the invitation of ESMAE (Escola Superior de M\u00fasica do Porto), performing with her Saxophone Quartet.<\/p>\n<p>She has a degree in Nursing since 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2009 she is part of the residing Fado singers cast at the Fado house \u201cO Fado\u201d, in Oporto, the city where she lives since 2001.<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, she released her first original album, \u201cUm cantar velado e lento\u201d. Composed of thirteen songs, she presents several originals, four of which were especially composed for Patr\u00edcia Costa: \u201cBalada de Lisboa\u201d by Fontes Rocha with lyrics by Manuel Alegre; \u201cFado das Ondas\u201d by Andr\u00e9 Teixeira with the words of Jos\u00e9 Carlos Vasconcelos; \u201cGuitarras do meu Pa\u00eds\u201d and \u201cEm Todos os Jardins\u201d composed by Miguel Amaral for the poems of Manuel Alegre and Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In Portugal, there are already several acclaimed concert halls where Patr\u00edcia Costa performed: Casa da M\u00fasica, Coliseu do Porto, Pal\u00e1cio da Bolsa, Pal\u00e1cio do Freixo, Teatro Rivoli, Teatro S\u00e1 da Bandeira, and Casa das Artes of V. N. Famalic\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, she held three concerts on the \u201cCais de Fado\u201d festival promoted by Casa da M\u00fasica as well as Gaia\u2019s City Hall (July of 2014), and a concert held within the third edition of the cycle \u201cFado no Museu\u201d (August of 2014) at the Museu do Vinho do Porto, promoted by Oporto\u2019s City Hall; both being praised by critics and sold out.<\/p>\n<p>Patr\u00edcia Costa has confirmed her presence on the Festival Caixa Ribeira, which shall take place on Oporto\u2019s riverfront on the 12th and 13th of June of 2015, where she will perform on an unusual as well as special setting: a Rabelo boat on the Douro river.<\/p>\n<p>She is currently preparing her second album: a live record where the Fado singer shall present the new original repertoire; a few songs concerning rural folklore; and where she will also recover the Fado legacy of the Cidade Invicta (Unvanquished City) of the last decades.<\/p>\n<p>Patr\u00edcia Costa was also invited to take part on the next edition of \u201cPorto timeless a photo album as well as poetic text of the co-authorship of Eug\u00e9nia Soares Lopes and Markus Zuber (Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Afrontamento), where in this volume the focus is on the portraits of Oporto city\u2019s individualities.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-13530c9e\" data-id=\"13530c9e\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7d14efc0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"7d14efc0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"663\" height=\"663\" src=\"https:\/\/ofado.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/patriciacosta.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-535\" alt=\"Patr\u00edcia Costa\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ofado.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/patriciacosta.jpg 663w, https:\/\/ofado.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/patriciacosta-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ofado.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/patriciacosta-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 663px) 100vw, 663px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Patr\u00edcia Costa Born in Guimar\u00e3es, Patr\u00edcia Costa grew up listening to traditional Portuguese music.
